Join us for an in-group session focused on deploying and troubleshooting two essential features of Palo Alto Networks’ PAN-OS: User-ID and IPsec VPNs. These capabilities are critical for organizations that want to strengthen identity-based security policies and ensure secure communication across distributed networks.
User-ID shifts firewall security enforcement from static IP addresses to actual user identities. By mapping IP addresses to usernames and groups, administrators can create policies based on organizational roles rather than network locations. This session will cover:
Core functions of User-ID for visibility, reporting, and identity-based enforcement.
Mapping methods include server monitoring, captive portal, GlobalProtect, and XML API.
Common limitations include challenges in NAT environments.
Best practices for deployment and troubleshooting.
IPsec VPNs provide secure tunnels over public networks, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and authentication of data. This session will explore:
Fundamentals of IPsec security services.
Tunnel and transport modes, with emphasis on site-to-site and remote access VPNs.
Deployment scenarios for branch connectivity and remote workforce access.
Troubleshooting techniques for common configuration and connectivity issues.
Licensing considerations (included in PAN-OS, no additional license required).
Part 1: User-ID Deployment and Troubleshooting (60 minutes)
Part 2: IPsec VPN Deployment and Troubleshooting (60 minutes)
Part 3: Q&A
This event is designed for security practitioners, TAC engineers, and administrators who want to deepen their expertise in deploying and debugging User-ID and IPsec VPNs on PAN-OS. Attendees will gain practical skills, troubleshooting strategies, and actionable insights to improve identity-based security and secure network connectivity.
This event will be recorded and available on the LIVEcommunity's YouTube channel, with presentations embedded on the event page.
Connectivity Issues - If you have any problems connecting to this session, please be sure any VPN connection you have is disconnected/dropped. We've encountered this a couple times in the last and this has always taken care of it.
