About this event

We are putting together an engineering user group. The purpose of this group is to help engineers in the Salt Lake region get together and learn from one another. The intent is to focus on engineering demos and real world solutions to problems many of our customers face. See below for details for our first user group event:

What: Lunch and Learn - Firewall Automation

Where: Zions bank technology center - 7860 Bingham Jct Blvd, Midvale, UT 84047, Training Room 1243

When: September 25 11:00 - 1:00

Details: Our first user group will focus on the basics of firewall automation. Automation is often talked about, but most of us don't have a background in coding/scripting, so it's not obvious how to go about it. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting started. The goal for this event is to help you get started by showing you:

  • Basic tools to help you - Postman, Python, and Documentation
  • Difference between the XML and REST APIs
  • Structure of API calls
  • How to retrieve an API key
  • Some examples and sample scripts

Then we'll turn some time over to the Zions team to show you how they have automated their firewall upgrades. Big thanks to the Zions firewall team for hosting and showing what they have done with automation in their environment! Come get some free food and learn how to automate the boring stuff!
